Friday Fun & Gallifrey Games

It's Friday once again, and while the real-man bloggers are off competing in Friday Night Fights, we ...  What? No more?

Alas, another fine tradition fades into the aether.

Nonetheless, we carry on with -

I'm missing The Doctor, and no new shows for half a year yet, so let's it's time for some Gallifreyan games!

First, a couple of word games - one to search them out, and one to stuff them in...

Indulge in a bit of robo-puppy love with a trio of K-9 puzzles -

...and finally, let's close it out with a little old school Doctor puzzle...

Puzzle solutions tomorrow, of course.

Who Whats

Meeting the new medical team went well today, but slipped in the snow on the way home and having much too much fun with my knee now. So before i go hibernate and heal, let's quickly set up this edition of

While The Doctor is a fairly frequent subject around here, we tend to lean towards the older run when pulling puzzles and references. Let's visit the modern era for today's Doctor Who quiz collection -

Hmm. That word search looks awfully easy.
Let's fix that, eh?

To wrap up, we jump tracks. Instead of a test type quiz, here's one of those Cosmo Personality Quizzes that have become so ubiquitous at times -

...but you'll still have to wait until tomorrow to chart the results, just like the 'real' quizzes.

Who's Your Funnies

Winter is here, and i seem to be in hibernation mode. Doing double duty on the sleeping. Urg.

I find myself nodding off after only a few hours of wakefulness. In no small part, i'm sure, that's the system replenishing itself after depletion, but it's definitely a function of the shorter days and colder weather, too.

So, the point of this little ramble, eh?
Posts are running a little later lately while i'm running off-kilter.
But they'll get here eventually.

For our Sunday Morning Funnies, we continue with our Whovian cartoons, courtesy of Tim Quinn and Dicky Howett, and starting from their first collection together of Time Lord Ticklers - The Doctor Who Fun Book.

but, have you noticed? It's getting crowded out there...

Every now and then, they sprinkle in a short bit of story among the various teasers and tidbits-

And if we jump to the end of the 2nd collection (Bigger On The Inside), we find an ending and beginning...

Let's close out this bit with a spot of colour, eh? From the Doctor Who Annuals '92 & '94:

Only two more weeks and a day...

Doctor Who Fun Day '88

1988...
The Doctor had only 25 series/seasons under his belt - a half a dozen lifetimes ago. Now (s)he's bigger than ever, and the 50th anniversary has already passed on by. Modern audiences on this side of the Atlantic may have only the barest familiarity with the 20th century incarnations of our favorite Time Lord, and the first 8 regenerations. For you folks, just assume anyone you can't place in these cartoons is The Doctor. He's not always so uptight about crossing one's own timeline.

But, our theme for yesterday & today's Fun & Games is The Doctor and The Daleks, with our puzzles coming from the Annuals for both. So let us pause and reflect upon the most famous Daleks of all time...

Now for a word from the opposition...

Yesterday's tease of The Deano* also came from today's playground - the 2nd** in a series of books from Tim Quinn and Dickie Howett, the creators of the Doctor Who? cartoon that ran in Doctor Who Magazine.

*(The Deano is a play on the famous UK magazine, The Beano. The first strip presented on yesterday's feature, Doc The Menace is a take on the Brit incarnation of Dennis The Menace, which was referred to recently in the comments. (see what you miss if you don't read them?))

**(The first was The Doctor Who Fun Book. We'll get there, i'm just not very linear)
